WELCOME!

WELCOME ALL! WE HAVE STARTED OUR ADVENTURE! CLASS WAS WONDERFUL TODAY (IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF!) Distribution of travel materials, discussion of "projects" which will include a paper of a related subject of interest to each specific student; decorating and writing in a journal before & during our trip, an attempt at "Impressionist" art, and learning about Impressionism, our composers (Debussy, Ravel); Artists (Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cezanne) and Poets (Beaudelaire, Verlaine, Rimbaud & Mallerme).

What a GREAT lecture Dr. Malvern gave - an overview of Impressionism. Then we were thrilled to have Dr. Bill Allen - Chair of the Language Dept. - come to speak to us about Symbolism/Impressionism in Poetry and gave detailed and very interesting accounts of the lives & writings of our 4 poets of interest. SUCH a brilliant insight into our topic.

Later in the Afternoon - we watched a BRILLIANT Woody Allen Movie - MIDNIGHT IN PARIS - SUPERB! Gorgeous views of Paris (we are all ready to go TOUT SUITE), about a wanna-be serious writer who "travels" to 1920 Paris and meets all the famous writers, artists and their community. Really very poignant and motivating - Follow your BLISS.

I'm thrilled and privileged to have the opportunity to design and carry out my vision for a truly wonderful learning (and goofing off) experience.

Bon Soir......Professeur Matthews :-)
