Day 1 in Biarritz

Today was a lovely first day in the beautiful town of Biarritz, France and also Ms. Matthews' birthday! Biarritz is a small town right on the coast of southern France. The beach is absolutely gorgeous with rocky cliffs overlooking it.

We started our day with a very relaxing morning at the hotel. Most of us slept in, had breakfast, showered, etc. A few girls explored Biarritz a bit before we met with the group. We walked down the street to the beach which is approximately 5 minutes away. We enjoyed the sand between our toes as well as the warm sunshine.

The entire group met up at 1:00 to catch a bus to Ciboure where we spent the bulk of our day. Ciboure is the hometown of Maurice Ravel, which is located further down the coast from Biarritz. We searched for Ravel's house and museum, which ended up being inside the tourist office. We had a late lunch at a cafe in Ciboure. There was a lot going on in this quaint little town and we loved watching everything going on. We wandered around a bit more and got ice cream before catching a bus back to Biarritz. We all passed out on the bus because we were so tired!

Dinner and the rest of the night were pretty much on our own. One group of people went to a sushi place for dinner and others of us went to a beach-side grill to watch the sunset. The day overall was pretty relaxed! We are continuing to have a wonderful time!!!

With love from France,

Molly
